Coaching Matters: Around the web April and May 2015

Yogi-Berra-In-theory-there-is-no-difference

Welcome to the April and May 2015 edition of Coaching Matters, a round up of the articles I have found interesting in the month relating to coaching, sport science, physical preparation and skill acquisition.

I have been very busy the past 2 months and didn’t manage to post in April so I have compiled 2 months into one post. I am also conscious that I haven’t really posted any other content than Coaching Matters but I have quite a few thoughts on different subjects so that is very much on the “To-do list”.

I want to put out a massive thanks to some of the people who have recently taken the time out of their busy schedules to meet up with me and help me with ideas for my coaching so if you aren’t already then you definitely should be following:

Mark Upton | Darren Roberts | Joe Lightfoot | Josh Darrall-Jones | Blaine Clancy | Mark Williams | Luke Hart | James BakerRob Pacey

The quote at the top of the article (which I stole from Martin Bingisser’s brilliant article on Antifragile athletes, linked below) neatly summed up most of the conversations we had – hopefully I’ll write a blog in that direction soon.

I have been asked a few times how I find the time to read so much and the answer is very simple. I love reading more than watching TV or listening to music so when I wake up I read 3 or 4 articles before I get up and before I go to bed I read another 3 or 4 plus a couple during the day in downtimes which over the course of a month adds up to 250 to 300. Pocket is a great tool for saving the ones I like and has great interactivity with Twitter and Chrome. I am also starting to play around with Nuzzel which shows content your friends are sharing.

The whole point of this blog is sharing and interaction so if you have written or know of similar content that would be good for future posts then please let me know via Twitter @SiNainby.

Don’t forget to check out the Coaching Matters Live Round Up Tool, all the previous Coaching Matters blogs, my Notes From blogs of various lectures/CPD I have attended and various random thoughts on coaching.
